Usable Spells while raging

Then I am currently theorycrafting a lv20 barbaric warlock, which probably already has made half of the people reading this disgusted by the idea. There are many problems mixing the two classes, such every bit locks getting skills to use charisma instead of forcefulness, but rage only getting bonus harm when using strength. Biggest trouble is the "If you are able to cast spells, you tin can't bandage them or concentrate on them while raging". This cuts out concentration spell and straight use spells, then I was thinking of using spells that set up something beforehand, earlier going into the Rage. Example, blink or spiritual weapon being cast Before you rage, still being in effect after you rage.
So I have ii main questions, first if these kind of gear up an effect beforehand without concentration spells practise indeed work while raging, because I couldn't find confirmation of if information technology does. Second, what is the listing for all those kinds of spells. I luckily do not need too many spells that are usable this way, since I was thinking that by using "Eldritch Smite" invocation information technology increases the usefulness of my spell slots, fifty-fifty while raging.

There is nothing saying that a Barbaric cannot pre-cast a elapsing spell that has a lasting effect which does not require concentration. It simply says you cannot cast and/or concentrate on a spell while Raging.
That said you lot are going to observe that your idea is severely defective. Possible pre-bandage non-concentration spells:
Cantrip:
Pocket-sized Illusion
Prestidigitation
1st:
Charm Person
Comprehend Languages
Illusory Script
So as yous can see, you're very limited in what yous could pre-bandage and, until level two spells, you're non going to have anything that really helps make you Barbarian harder.
If you went that route I'd say Invocations may be the trick y'all're looking for with spells being used when you're out of Rages.

You missed Armor of Agathys (1st Level). That could potentially exist a very useful spell to cast before raging, and with scaling, it can exist viable for quite a long while on a melee-focused grapheme.
yoelleoy11, does it accept to exist Warlock, or are other spellcasting classes an choice?

I am without my books atm, so I
Thanks for that, I don't take my books atm and so I had to reference the SRD on my telephone, apparently it didn't have all the spells.
I call back yeolleoy11 would get more than mileage dipping into wizard or druid in terms of self-buff spells and some utility outside of Rage.

Well the grapheme idea I had is for a warlock barbaric, simply at this point I just wanna know for future reference in instance I ever desire to make a barbaric multiclass grapheme. Likewise some patrons and feats let me get other class spells then I'd say that other spellcasting classes are an option.
EDIT: In instance y'all want to know the character idea, its basically a mix between wanting a more "dark & ferocious" looking barbaric and doing a name pun with Kuma and Akuma, which means Conduct and Demon in Japanese

At that place are other spells that could be useful if you're also including XGtE and it's also dependent on how your DM plays your opponents. As long equally the DM doesn't metagame against the barbarian aspect of the character, having some damaging spells could help lure in creatures that are seeing an unarmored caster that is pinging them from distance to piss them off.
Having mold earth (xgte) tin can shape the battleground around you to limit access around y'all you would need a different way to go information technology than the base warlock cantrip list and its usefulness is pretty much limited to natural soundings. Minor illusion (phb) can be used in a like way. Mage mitt (phb) has uses. Lightning lure (scag) can drag enemies to you pre-rage, which is especially useful with getting that last enemy in range. Magic rock (xgte) gives you some projectiles (or someone else that ran out of ammo or didn't ready well). Thunderclap (xgte) tin be a calling bill of fare while getting in some aoe prerage.
Armor of Agathys (PHB) would piece of work and be very thematic. Artillery of Hadar (PHB) might fit your tastes, but probably works meliorate as a mass disengage plus harm. If you go celestial (xgte), you could cure wounds prerage or after a rage, particularly useful if you are a half-orc other race that has a crook death. Hexblade (xgte) has false life, though the extra impairment from Armor of Agathys probably beats the potential of up to 3 extra temp hit points from simulated life.
Blindness/deafness for the fiend (phb) or undying (scag), entrall (which was mentioned earlier) can focus enemies on yous by limiting the perception checks to find others (extra crispy fun if you accept rogues with you), and misty pace to go along with the others that DMThac0 mentioned that I didn't.
Of form, nothing prevents yous from using concentration spells to augment your fighting abilities during the instances that you aren't raging.

I've been considering trying this in AL for a while. My plan is to become for huge self-healing and tanking with a dwarf barbarian six/warlock 14.
I figure that with everything (including the periapt), I'll be able to heal myself ~45 hp in a turn. If I was hitting in the previous plough, that won't even lose rage. I made a list of useful spells at some point that I'll find and update this postal service later on. It is absolutely a pretty short list. Also, I've considered adding 3 levels of divine soul wizard into the mix for warding bail. I think information technology could brand for a groovy tank, but it might be a niggling bit short on harm. I certainly think the thought could work and I call back information technology would exist fun, but in that location are definite limitations and trade-offs.
Also this
Definitely demand to dress like a caster.

I really like the combo of gift of the ever living ones and dwarven fortitude, calculation in the periapt of wound endmost to that combo and adding it to a barbearian is just demoralizing for anyone trying to impale the graphic symbol. And can you imagine how powerful the life cleric is going to feel throw a healing give-and-take your way?
Definitely demand the robe await, even if it is cut perfectly to allow proper movement for the barb but retaining the squishy caster look.

I really similar the idea of the super healing dwarf with Gift of the Ever Living Ones, seems like a really fun tank. However I was looking to brand my character alot more damage oriented, even at the cost of some tankines. I was at outset thinking of a "night" looking barbaric, but I at present similar the idea of a weak looking warlock that suddenly rages into a barbarian infront of the enemy, kinda like a blob transformation, but instead explained by a "demon" possession or something similar.
And then my current idea afterward reading what you guy wrote is the same as earlier, just calculation a kinda "split" fighting fashion, while non raging he is casting and range spelling enemies like a normal warlock, merely if an enemy gets into his confront he "transforms" while raging and goes barbaric on their asses. And then it is nice to know that I tin indeed use some spells to prep before raging, only I tin can still employ normal warlock spells normally. I was now thinking virtually which patron would be best, ive narrowed it downwards to 3 possible ones either due to the spells they requite or the utility. Invocation'due south I already take a proficient thought, the classic eldritch blast stuff with eldritch smite and a bit of pact of the blade synergy (not the attacking twice one thought since information technology doesn't stack with barbarian extra attack).
And so the 3 patrons I am currently thinking of are, The Fiend, The Hexblade and The Raven Queen.
So main benefit of The Fiend, good offensive spells that I can acquire, and I tin can use fire shield earlier I rage, which stacked with armor of agathys should be pretty nice and "cool" looking. Simply problem is that unlike armor of agathys it doesn't scale with spell slot and only lasts ten minutes compared to agathys lasting 1 hr. The features are pretty practiced, Nighttime One's Blessing gives steady HP during a murder spree, Dark One's Ain Luck is ever useful, Fiendish Resistance in combination with bear totem rage means I can accept resistance to psychic damage to be resistant to ALL damage while raging and Hurl Through Hell is a squeamish and cool thematic finisher that is usable even while raging.
The Hexblade is the obvious "melee warlock" selection. Has a few useful spells, but nigh of them are concentration smites that crave me to hitting with a weapon, which I will only do while raging, and then unless I decided to whack someone while not raging I can't use them. Elemental Weapon had some potential but is useless due to needing concentration and non working with Improved Pact Weapon Invocation. One really good/fun spell yous get though is Blink, it can exist used pre rage to become a teleporting barbarian during a fight which is already terrifying for the enemy. Principal usefulness of Hexblade is the hexes themselves, which are just glorious for any barbaric. Hex Warrior is nonetheless wasted, since it turns your damaging stat into charisma instead of forcefulness or dexterity, which would be great if it weren't for the fact that rage bonus damage requires yous to attack using forcefulness. Accursed Specter, Armor of Hexes and Chief of Hexes are simply all good as well for a barbaric, more than hexing, less getting hitting and enslaving the slain.
And so at that place is the Raven Queen. Which gives a few good dissentious spells and utility. It likewise gives spiritual weapon, which can exist summoned pre raging and be used as your main bonus activity while fighting, it also scales with spell slot which is always a bonus every bit a warlock. Now the patron features information technology gives aren't very fight oriented, just more utility. Sentinel Raven is only so much utility, it lets you run low wisdom safely, gives you darkvision, you lot can requite it commands and see through its eyes up to 100 feet abroad, it can't be killed while information technology is with you and information technology tin can act every bit guard duty on its own during an entire rest. Raven shield is nice, just not the greatest amount of utility, harder to neglect death saving throws and allowed to being scared. Queen'south Right Hand lets you lot cast Finger of Expiry in one case per long balance, which is a VERY potent damaging spell, merely trouble information technology cant be used while raging. Now the master reason I considered with patron is because of Soul of the Raven, which lets you basically become a raven. It of course provides more utility, being able to sentry further than 100 feet with it and letting you lot motility faster, 50 anxiety instead of 30-40 feet. Main reason I similar this feature is because it gave me an idea of something the character could practice at some point. Basically fly into the air as a raven over 200 feet into the heaven above a enemy target, then transform dorsum and while falling utilise all my pre rage spells, then rage mid air and attack the poor guy I state on, with eldritch smite as a bonus. From what I read falling damage is capped at 20d6, which is 120 bludgeoning harm max, with rage the max impairment becomes 60, and so a lv 20 barbaric should be able to survive falling from any height. Also considering of advantage/disadvantage rules, using reckless I can cancel out disadvantage in case my DM would say it would exist an attack with disadvantage. Of grade I could finish up in a cavern hazard and my dreams of the flight/falling barbarian will be crushed.
So those are the reasons I am considering these patrons, which one would you guys recommend I use?

I think they all sound pretty cool and you've got a tough decision. I will say that with hex warrior, you don't have to apply your charisma modifier, information technology's just making the weapon that you bear on have a finesse like trait that gives you options. Thus, if you lot are hit with something that reduces your strength but not your charisma, you lot tin nevertheless be somewhat effective in melee. Additionally, hex warrior does requite you the flexibility to put your best stats somewhere other than strength if y'all can exist assured that you would accept access to something similar Gauntlets of Ogre Power that would crash-land your strength afterward. You would withal need 13 strength for the multiclass, but it does provide options.
I did have this image of a warlock without a weapon flinging carnage at enemies with only a caster'south robes on. Seeing the caster with no armor AND no weapon who is causing pain would certainly depict me in closer. Sure there might exist a dagger in at that place, but that'south not that large of a bargain... then the warlock summons his pact weapon, a greatsword perhaps, and all of a sudden that decision looks not so not bad (doesn't work if they can see the greatsword on the warlock, you know something's upwards so). The trouble is that creating a pact weapon (or summoning it) takes an action and I didn't see lots of options for bonus action attacks that didn't require spell slots or an Assault action on its turn. Maddening Hex could piece of work if you wanted to employ Hex in caster manner and would have used the spell already anyway. Cloak of Flies for some intimidation of the saps that barbarous for the weakling bit coupled with some poison harm equal to your modifier. But both of those require using invocations that didn't audio similar you were planning on using. Of grade, the darkness/devil'south sight philharmonic could negate the need for the barbaric side weapon existence hidden and help the surprise of "Blob Blast!"
But having the benefits of either Fiend or Raven Queen could be interesting (assuming that the DM allows UA material for Raven Queen). I'd definitely flesh out some details with the DM, as they might exist willing to work with yous on the activity economy of creating a pact weapon and attacking on the same turn (perhaps on a limited ground) if they (and yous) like that visual or on something else that you recollect fits your Lockbarian.
One final suggestion on race, if you want to preserve the armorless appearance without having to go quite as MAD as force and charisma for offense and dexterity and constitution for defence, yous could go Lizardfolk for 13 plus dex Air conditioning (though the stat bonuses won't help equally much besides allowing an 12 for a constitution buy to get to fourteen con) or Loxodon from the Ravnica volume to get 12+Con Air conditioning with the same stats, but it actually increases your Air conditioning too. Then you "just" demand strength, charisma, and constitution for offense and defence. Neither gets you equally loftier as unarmored defense maxed, just do lessen the stat strain.

Y'all can't bandage them, simply one cast you tin can concentrate on them, and use them if they have a duration. ie: Witch Bolt.

Wait no, Rage also stops concentration, including Witch Bolt even if yous cast it before raging. You need non-concentration spells with a duration to cast before y'all rage, which volition stay after you rage.

If you're okay with third party content in that location's is the Morgrave Miscellany for Ebberon.
It equally a Warlock Pact, called the Pact of the Host, wich gives you a Symbiot, basically information technology turns y'all Into Venom from Marvel...
When y'all get under the 50% hp marking, you can reluinquish the control to the Symbiot, and it will cover your body like an armor or arrange, making your Air-conditioning= to your CHA SCORE+CHA modern, and it adds your CHA modern to Str, Con and Dex.
Yous can't cast spells or concentrate on them.
Your character while within the "Suit" is blind, only y'all can communicate telepathically with the Symbiot and give him orders, he has Bullheaded sight and tremorsense.
You retain the utilize/benefits of class features, racials and Feats yous take, your worn equipement is merged with your form and isn't usable/has whatsoever effects.
Your strikes deals 1D10 necrotic impairment
If you kill a animal while in your Symbiot form, yous need to make a WIS salve, or else the Symbiot becomes berserk and start eating the corpse, you can't do anything in your turn while he do that, you can use an Intimidation/persuassion/Deception bank check to regain control.
And the Eldritch invocations given, with the pact allows you for more weird transformations; Wings, Bladed tail, Larger tremorsens, Increase of move and jump speed CHA mod x 5,Venomous spit attack and greater control over the symbiot...
Might pair pretty well with a Barbarian like Warlock...

When looking through spells in DnDBeyond, select your class, then for the concentration tab under advanced filters, select No. Once you have filtered those spells, sort past duration (descending). This puts all of the spells that would remain in effect while raging at the top, and instantaneous spells at the bottom which could only be cast when not raging.
I like the idea of casting booming bract followed by a bonus action rage. Now your enemy has a choice, stand face to face with a ferocious, ax-wielding maniac or run in fear. Either way, they're gonna go injure.

I fabricated a teleporting, aasimar Hexblade barbarian as a backup concluding summertime, never used him, simply he would have been scary for the DM to deal with (non that he was needed with the other formidable fighters we had). Several spells were mentioned already that I went with to work with raging. Armour of Agathys, mirror image, hmmm a few others, but Glimmer was a feasible option as well. Kind of hope to use him one day. He works fine at lvl 7, and only gets worse afterward that, maybe some ranks in fighter to make him more dangerous.
